Extras

The following can be added to material before cutting for an additional charge. Please specify in the quote form if you would like any of these applied to your material.

  • Application Tape

When laser cutting or engraving is done on any timber materials, it is highly recommended that application tape is first applied to both sides of the material. Application tape is similar to masking tape. When applied to material before laser cutting, it helps to minimize the naturally occurring burning and discoloration caused by the laser on areas surrounding the cuts or engravings. See the image to the right to see the difference between using and not using application tape on timber.

We recommend requesting application tape when using any timber products. Products will be shipped with the application tape still intact for added protection during shipping.

It is not necessary to apply to acrylic as acrylic is less likely to burn and also already has a protective coating. Using application tape on cardboard products is not recommended as it can damage the material upon removal.

  • Adhesive Backing

A sheet of adhesive backing can be applied to the reverse of your material before cutting. Products will be shipped with the outer layer of backing paper intact.
